We recently enjoyed another visit to Hall Close playground in Ketton. This is one of our favourite local play areas and really is a hidden gem. The playground is situated in Hall Close which can be accessed, from the village, via Redmile’s Lane. However, arriving by car, I always find parking easier on Church Road with a short walk along Chapel Lane to meet Redmile’s Lane. The playground is very well-equipped with something for children of all ages. For younger children there is a fenced area that includes swings, slides, a play house and a wooden train while the main area has swings, climbing equipment, slides, a seesaw and a zip wire; there is even a tarmac basketball court at the far end of the park. Both areas have the added bonus of plenty of benches and picnic tables. The whole site is bordered by the River Chater and even features a community apple orchard. Another thing we love about this location is that it is often very quiet during the week allowing for plenty of space to play and roam at our leisure.
