On Monday I had the pleasure of meeting some other local mummies at Kerry Robert's first ever Mummies Pamper Morning and what a great little event it was. I knew I was at the right address when I spied the 'Pamper Morning' display made out of an etch-a-sketch, a handprint and several dinosaurs in the window and as soon as I stepped inside I was instantly made to feel at ease by Kerry and the other Mummies.
There was a well stocked playroom set up with Cbeebies already on the TV so Archie dived straight in and met Kerry's two little boys - Sidney (11 months) and Thomas (3). He particularly liked the rocking caterpillar and the little table and chairs meant we could all give our little ones their lunch in there too.
There were several mini treatments on offer - waxing, tinting, manicures and pedicures. It was great to watch Kerry working and hear her talk so passionately and knowledgably about all the treatments. She certainly knows her stuff and is happy to advise on how best to maintain your look at home. All the treatments she did that day looked fantastic. Even the kids wanted their nails doing!
Originally from Portsmouth, Kerry moved to Stamford just over a year ago with her two boys and her husband, Tom, an electrician. Tom's family are from around this area and they had always wanted to bring up their family here. It' always tough being self employed as it usually means you end up working much longer hours but Kerry said 'Tom does have to work long days but we get good family time at the weekends. He's really supportive and always encourages me whne I have an idea I want to try'.
Kerry hasn't always been a Beauty Therapist - back in Portsmouth she was a Support Worker before becoming a Special Constable for Hampshire Constabulary. But she did always know that she wanted to stop working to have a family. 'Beauty is something that comes naturally to me so I did my beauty training while I was on my maternity leave. I'm not sure whether being a Special Constable is something I would return to, right now I'm enjoying being a mum'.
I will certainly be returning to Kerry for future treatments and if you fancy coming along she is holding another Mummies Pamper Session on Monday 29th October.
